It is finally Spring! I'm getting Spring fever and longing to put my hands in some soil. Yesterday it was very cold out, but today it is pretty hot. Oh man, it was so hot in the summer during construction. Of course those were the days that I had two to three hour shifts back to back all day. Being in the car a lot was inesapable. And to top it all off, the air conditioner was very reluctant to kick out any cool air. Somehow I had to arrive at work looking professional, in spite of the sweaty conditions. I wish I would have had an ac compressor at the time. It might have been more of comfort. Definitely, I will be attending to that this year. No more sitting in construction feeling like I will die of heat exhaustion.

Sometimes more answers arise from your own intuition than by asking other people for advice. I am now having this experience. If I had listened to my own intuition sooner I would posssibly healthier, definitely be happier, and would have less debt. As a child, my sex education was from books with popout folds which explained how babies were conceived, and showed pictures of them in the womb. I was educated naturally to wait till marriage to have intercourse because of our religious affiliation. We also had about 20 animals (ducks, goats, cats, chickens, and at one time a dog), and it was impossible to not know how procreation works, with the female cat getting pregnant a couple times a year. For me, unexposed to television, popular culture, or public school, there was no misinformation passed around, and sex was no joking matter. However, the gaps in my education may have been that although the message was to abstain until marriage, no one really explained the hurt that can come from not abstaining, and no one explained how hard it is to abstain when your hormones are going off - or tips for how to abstain. The only person I knew who got pregnant out of wedlock was a target of gossip. The myths were at the time that those who got pregnant out of wedlock were somehow bad spiritually. Some myths I have heard are those that you can't get pregnant if you do it only once. But in fact, you can.

Coming from a religious background, I assumed that having little to no sex drive was nothing to be concerned about - because you could just accept it and do other more important things with your life. I wish I had known other information about sex at the time, and wish I had known that having little sexual desire actually means that you have health problems that need to be addressed. Visualizing a firm goal - get out out cc debt completely in 27 months - has been very useful. Because I had to confront both my reluctance to stop buying right now what I can't afford, and also to make the determination of how much extra money I need to generate every month to do that, and FINDING ways to do that every day, instead of assuming it was impossible to do in such a short amount of time.

This decision and visualization, combined with a spreadsheet in Excel, to track progress, is incredibly useful. It is interesting to track each earning as it is earned, and realize that little bits of effort really do add up.

You know, I really need a different bed. The bed that I have now is just composed of two mattresses that I got from a second hand store, and they slip off all the time. There's this frequent conversation that I have with a male friend. Generally, when it happens, we are both in the car on the way to a store. Here is the scenario: somehow a product comes up, and he has to criticize how it was made, and say that it has a flaw, and if he would have designed it, it would not have that flaw. So I say, "They didn't consult you." And he says, "OBviously!" We have this conversation over and over, and most of the time, it is justified. You have to wonder what the manufacturers are thinking when they invent things, things that don't necessarily work out well for the consumers.

Then, the other day I had my own "They didn't consult you" experience. I was at work caring for an older person who needed help getting their shredder free of all the jammed paper. It took an HOUR to unjam the shredder. You kinda have to wonder: hasn't the company ever heard of market surveys? survey software could easily have asked people what they valued in a shredder. One thing I would have said, IF they CONSULTED me, was: if I put in more than 8 sheets, or for some other reason it jams, for heaven's sake, I don't deserve to spend an HOUR jamming a tiny screwdriver into it. What I would rather do is be able to flip a lever which would undo the blades from each other, and the paper jams would magically disappear. And even, there could be a special thing in place that you would run to declog it. They didn't consult me. Obviously.

What would I do with tarps if I had a bunch of them? Well, if I could get a bunch of tarps I would use one of them for under my tent, another one for over my tent (to avoid a repeat of the eighth grade camping trip when we got soaked in the middle of the night), and I could also use tarps in a project I am doing with a friend to bring the contents of a storage unit onsite to the property and stop paying out monthly fees. As long as they were durable, it would work while we sorted things out. Next, I would give my parents some tarps to cover the woodpiles that they have going a couple hundred feet from the house. They also have some machinery outside that they need to keep covered. And then, with the market gardening, there is always the squash and apples to cover outside in the fall, after they are picked. I'd keep a few for spares, because it seems that in my life whenever I've needed a tarp, it required a trip to the store and then the trip to the store meant seeing other things that I think that I want. Why do that, when you can get quality tarps online and keep some on hand?

My dream is to have a VW bug. Not just any VW bug but a red one. With black spots on it. I collect ladybug items as a hobby and I think that would be the coolest. I am trying to help a friend solve a problem that got out of hand. A cat that didn't get spayed. A year and a half later. 11 cats, and a couple days ago another litter of kittens. I told him how fast cats get pregnant before spring. I guess he didn't believe me. This morning we are going to get one spayed on a free coupon (bringing the cat in, in a trap, as some of them have gone wild, and you can get feral ones dealt with for less.)

I just ran into a site this morning which is pretty interesting. You can check out all the different types of railings. I didn't know there were so many. There are even foot railings. Which is something that I like, being short. Actually, at the moment, I have my feet up on the bottom rungs of my chair, so I would love foot railings when sitting at a counter where my feet don't touch the floor. This would be more comfortable and it would help protect the cabinets as well, so I am not kicking them by accident. I am trying to write a blog entry and Cuddles is on my arm and knee curling around purring. Whenever I try to get on the computer, she is right there, and jumps on the keyboard. I have to shut her out of the room when I am blogging. I was trying to make an indoor composting bin and the moment I left the bucket of dirt uncovered, she was right into it. She also comes running when the bathtub water is running ... she loves water. She even dips her paw into it. My favorite is when she gives me a backrub by kneading on my back and neck. And when she purrs in my ear. I have to shut her out of the room to get any sleep at night or I am awakened by her scratching on my mattress or walking all over me.

Ok, so this last weekend I went on a group excursion to Cannes which is located about 45 minutes out of Nice. It was beautiful there and it had the first sand beach that I've seen on this trip! I was so excited. We went on a hike up the hill and through the streets of old Cannes to the top of the look out. The view up there was AMAZING! So amazing in fact that I couldn't capture it all in one picture, I had to take four. Then we took a bâteau (boat) to St. Margarite island where the fabled Man in the Iron Mask was apparently held captive. It was a beautiful trip spent with some fun new friends. My camera died about half way through but it was ok. More adventures on the way, it should be fun!
